Engine failure stops Niklas Krütten in Sarno

Last weekend, the young kart driver Niklas Krütten showed once again a strong performance at the International Circuit Napoli Sarno: in the last of four races of the WSK Super Master Series this season, he was mostly running in the Top-10 and collected important information for the upcoming European Championship round in Sarno in two weeks. Due to an engine failure, the 14-year-old was forced to end the pre-final race early and could not collect his well-deserved laurels for his impressive run.

More than 250 participants came together at the high-class karting event at the South Italian track of Sarno. 68 competitors from a total of 21 nations together with Niklas Krütten headed into the highly competitive OK Senior Class. With P5 in his qualification group and only a gap of 0.2 seconds to Pole Position, the German Rookie proofed that he has established himself as one of the youngest drivers amongst the fastest pilots in this class.

He reinforced his strong performance from qualifying with the positions eight, six and five in the first three pre-races. In the final and fourth „Heat“ the carburettor caused some problems. Despite the small set-back, the young German secured a great starting point with P7 for race day on Sunday.

An engine failure on lap 7 during the pre-final, however, ruined all his hopes for a top result. After a good start und some fights for positions, he was running in eighth place and would have entered the final main race, if technology had not stopped him and forced him to retire.

„It is very hard to end the weekend with an engine failure after such a strong performance“, said Niklas on Sunday evening. „But that is also part of motorsport. The engines are in high demand on this track in particular and I was not the only one, who suffered this technical problem. In the end the positive experiences overweigh for this weekend. We have continuously improved since the beginning of the season and, until the retirement, showed a very good effort. We are well-prepared for the CIK-FIA European Championship round in two weeks here. I would like to thank my team Ricky Flynn Motorsport and my engine partner ONE Engines for their hard work and great support.“

Until then, Niklas would like to wish you all a Happy Easter.
