Niklas Krütten: A short interview with the young Kart Racer

You have to have a proper amount of courage and confidence to keep strength of nerve as being the youngest competitor amongst more than 30 other drivers. Niklas Krütten only turned 12 this year and races against internationally ambitioned and experienced kart racers, most of whom are two years older on average. Niklas, the young gun from Trier, has all the right qualifications to get good exposure in the Motorsport stage one day. Many times, he has proofed his talent, his determination, his speed and his technical understanding. Furthermore, he has held steady as the Rookie at international Top-Events with about 90 of the world´s best kart drivers, entering the Final of the Top-30 on a regular basis.

We have asked Niklas for a short interview and realise pretty soon, he is not like any other driver.

What are your favourite Kart tracks?
The Schweppermannring in Ampfing and the Adria International Raceway.

Do you have a ritual you do before getting into the Kart?
I always try and relax before the start, close my visor, fold my hands in my lap and put my feet on the pedal.

What is the fascination about the Kart sport?
The pure speed and the one-to-one battles.

Who is your idol?
Sebastian Vettel, because he never gives up and tries to make the best out of every situation. Despite all his success he is a normal and nice guy.

Who would you like to be for one day and why?
Our German Minister of Transport, Alexander Dobrindt, because I would introduce the driving licence from the age of 13.

Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
As a racing driver in Formula 3 or GP2.

What type of music do you like?
Cro, Sunrise Avenue and modern Hip-Hop.

What is your favourite clothing item?
Sneakers in every shape and form and in every colour.

How often do you work out per week and what keeps you motivated?
I have a training schedule done by my partners ProPerformance for every day and I also work out with a trainer three times a week more intensely. To be fit and strong on the right body parts is vital for having success.

And last but not least…describe yourself in three words.
Funny, helpful and sometimes quite a bit stubborn.

Thank you Niklas and good luck. The Interview was conducted by Jasmin Müller.
