Niklas Krütten best German Kart Driver at WSK Final Cup in Adria

The up and coming star Niklas Krütten has asserted himself with 20th place at the WSK Final Cup at Adria International Raceway (Italy) against a strong and competitive international starting field last weekend. He once again was the best starter from Germany in an international Top-Event.

The international elite of the karting scene gathered together for the Final Cup at Adria last weekend to mark the last big race event on European turf this season. 176 competitors from 32 nations found themselves racing against each other with Niklas having to beat 60 of some of the world’s best drivers in the OK Junior in his age group.

Following a reserved qualifying with P30, the driver from Trier took to his usual strength in the pre-races on Saturday. With P6, 16, 5, and 11 he was ranked as 16th overall. “The quali was not great. I was quickest in the first two sectors on my best lap, but then lost time in the last sector. I was able to improve in the Heats again”, said the 13-year-old on Saturday.

Niklas started into an exciting pre-finale from eighth on the grid on into the race on Sunday morning and defended his position in great style until the chequered flag. Therefore, it was row eight into the all decisive final run with the Top-34 drivers. The young Niklas had a strong start and after a few good overtaking moves, he was soon running in the Top-10. To avoid a collision of two cars spinning just ahead of him, he was forced to run wide and leave the track. Despite the setback and loosing time, he courageously fought back to come home in 20th place. He was once again the best driver from Germany as in most of the international Top-Events he has started this year.

“The weekend was a lot of fun. I was able to keep up with the international competition”, said Niklas after the race. “After the unplanned run through the grass, my tyres had picked-up a lot of dirt and I was not able to reduce the gap to the Top-10. All in all, I had a good speed and strong head-to-head battles this weekend. Big thank you again to my Team Ricky Flynn Motorsport for the great support.”

The young driver has planned to test over the next weeks in order to be best prepared for the CIK-FIA World Championship, taking place at Sakhir International Circuit in Bahrain in November.
